“... Any way to represent a territory means creating a cartography of it, that is, some data are registered and others are dropped. Each representation of a space means in a certain way to carry out a symbolic construction of it. This symbolic construction produces a certain meaning. Whatever appears as a landscape is not so much the physical environment surrounding the viewer but an intellectual construct implying the entire tradition of cultural, aesthetic and perception-related values that history has shaped around this term. When it comes to the symbolic value of urban landscape, architecture constitutes a basic axis. ...”
